Creating calm in a world of constant noise.
This project was founded to offer a quiet counterbalance.

About us:
Retzlaff was founded to help families find calm in an overstimulated world.
We create steady, thoughtfully designed sleep sounds that support babies, children an parents during evening routines and bedtime. Our focus in on consistency, simplicity an pedagogical awareness - offering a quiet space where families can slow down and relax.
Creating calm in a world of constant noice.

Did You Know?
Sound has a measurable impact on the human brain.
Research in neuroscience shows that steady, consistent sound patterns can influence brain activity. For example, studies on white noise have demonstrated that continuous background sound can improve sleep stability by masking sudden environmental noises that would otherwise trigger micro-awakenings.
In sleep research, this effect is often explained through the concept of auditory masking: when a constant sound is present, the brain becomes less reactive to unpredictable disturbances. This can help maintain more stable sleep cycles, particularly in infants and young children whose nervous systems are still developing.
Sound does not force sleep — but the right acoustic environment can gently support the brain’s natural ability to settle and rest.
A 2017 study published in Frontiers in Neurology found that white noise improved sleep quality in hospital patients by reducing the disruptive effects of environmental noise. The consistent sound reduced sleep latency and nighttime awakenings.
The principle behind this effect lies in how the brain processes sensory input: predictable, low-variation sounds require less neural alertness than sudden acoustic changes.
